Marches took place in London and other cities such as Hull, Liverpool and Edinburgh in Scotland. Participants carried banners and chanted slogans against racism and in support of immigration.

In many places, the number of people attending the event far exceeded the number of people protesting against immigration. Police forces were increased to maintain order and prevent the risk of clashes between protest groups.

Notably, according to a VNA correspondent in the UK, about 15,000 people participated in an anti-racism protest in the center of Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland. This was the second anti-violence protest in the capital of Northern Ireland in two days, aiming to demonstrate the peaceful stance of local people after a number of destructive protests occurred last week.

To date, British police have arrested more than 480 people and convicted nearly a third of them in connection with the riots that followed the knife attack that killed three young girls late last month. Most recently, a British court sentenced two people who incited violence on social media to 20 months and six years and two months in prison, respectively. In addition, five others were sentenced to between eight months and two and a half years in prison for disturbing public order and carrying weapons during the protests.
