So it was a little suspicious when she posted this now-deleted tweet: “I do it by myself even when I need help. I’m tired, though.. never gonna give up.” Now, just 2 weeks later, the 52-year-old has announced her retirement from the Hollytree Country Club.

“Tomorrow is my last day at the ‘Tree’ Hollytree,” Randi wrote. While she’s most known for being Patrick Mahomes’ mother, many don’t know that she was an event planner at the country club in Texas. Not only did this job help her find stability during her divorce, but it was also about independence, resilience, and setting an example of hard work and discipline for her kids. Turns out, it wasn’t just her kids she inspired; she had the same effect on her colleagues, too!

One of them was Meghan Howard, who shared an 18-year-long professional career with the matriarch of the Mahomes family. But it was more than just a professional relationship they had. Howard posted a picture on Instagram – a collage of a photo with Randi from 18 years ago and one from 2024. In a heartwarming message to go with the picture, she wrote, “18 years later and she’s leaving me. I will always believe that the Lord gave me Hollytree and Randi at a time in my life when I needed them.” Having Randi to look up to made navigating single parenthood easier for Meghan.

Explaining just what it meant, she continued, “A job to provide for me and my girls and a friend of mine who had walked the path I was heading down. A hard-working, divorced, single mom was just the friend and mentor I needed. The years, laughs, memories, ‘meetings,’ tears, life lessons, and even fights over the years will always hold a special place in my heart. Coming into work will never be the same, but I’m so excited for the next chapter for my girl,” Howard added, reflecting on their journey.

Understandably touched by the message, Randi Mahomes reposted it on her Instagram story and wrote, “Love U! So blessed for our friendship.” But it was under the post that the quarterback’s mother admitted to having cried all day (or planning to). When presumably one of their colleagues commented, “Can I cry already?! 😘” Randi replied, “Same 😢 all day.” Besides celebrating her years-long bond with the proud mom, Meghan Howard also expressed her love, demonstrating her regard for Mahomes’ mother.

“Love you always, praying for you always, and so very thankful for all of our years together. Sunshine and Vixen always!! Family forever!” It’s evident that Mama Mahomes’ perseverance and spirit influenced many.
