Emma Watson’s UN tour is still ongoing, and she recently made a stop at the Parliament of Canada to talk about gender equality with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. As a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador, Watson expressed her appreciation to Trudeau for his choice to create a cabinet that has an equal number of women and men. Additionally, she congratulated him on the progress he has made in promoting gender equality.
Watson conveyed her enthusiasm for witnessing Trudeau undertake the esteemed position of youth champion for UN Women’s HeForShe campaign. She expressed, “We are thrilled that you have become the HeForShe youth ambassador, and I am eagerly anticipating your future endeavors with this title.”
Trudeau and Watson had a conversation during her visit about the advocacy work on gender equality that Watson has been actively involved in for several years. They also talked about the significant impact that HeForShe, an organization promoting gender equality, is making all over the world. Trudeau commended Watson for her crucial role in helping people understand the importance of gender equality and expressed his excitement about connecting with her. Watson is currently visiting Ottawa to participate in the One Young World summit, where she will interact with young people who are working towards inspiring gender equality.
